1 – TREATMENT PHILOSOPHY
The most natural way of treatment is often the best way. We strongly believe that keeping all the permanent teeth is important to achieve a healthy and balanced smile and facial structure in the long term. This is why our approach to orthodontics is to minimize the extraction of teeth. When indicated, we work to modify a child’s growth pattern while they are still young to minimize the need for surgery or more invasive treatment later.
2 – BOARD CERTIFICATION
Dr. Jasmine Gorton, Dr. Bill Schmohl and Dr. Sona Bekmezian are all Board Certified by the American Board of Orthodontics. The purpose of The American Board of Orthodontics is to establish and maintain the highest standards of clinical excellence in orthodontics. Although many orthodontists initiate the process to achieve temporary certification, only about 35% of all U.S. Orthodontists present their cases to complete the voluntary board certification process, with a slightly lower certification rate in Marin County.

4 – DOCTOR INVOLVEMENT
Dr. Jasmine Gorton, Dr. Bill Schmohl and Dr. Sona Bekmezian work interchangeably on all patients. Our patients receive an exceptionally high level of doctor attention during treatment. Our doctor-to-patient ratio is almost unheard of in modern orthodontics!
5 – CONTINUING EDUCATION
Drs. Gorton and Schmohl attend several weeks per year of continuing education courses and actively participate in national study clubs and international forums. Our patients can then benefit from the improved aesthetics, efficiency and comfort of modern orthodontics. The innovations listed above are all safe, effective and have completely changed the way orthodontics is practiced. These progressive techniques have made the orthodontic experience more comfortable, efficient and predictable for our patients.

The majority of our team members have worked together for over 10 years, which creates a harmonious environment. This allows us to focus our attention on the patients and use everyone’s skill set to maximize patient benefit. We are unique in that every one of our team members, including those who work at the front desk, are licensed dental assistants. Additionally, all of our assistants have completed the training and passed the Orthodontic Assistant Permit exam through the Dental Board of California.
