Local Events

February

Marin Arts and Crafts Show. February 28 from 10 am to March 1 at San Rafael. If you can imagine it, then it’s probably here. Over 25,000 square feet of handmade items from clothing to textiles like rugs or tapestries to antiques, jewelry, wood and iron items, interior décor, fine art, unique foods and more are available to those who bring their walking shoes along for the tour. Free to attend.

Marin Country Mart Farmer’s Market. February 22 from 9 am to 2 pm in town. Who doesn’t love a farmer’s market? Bring your shopping basket or bag along to fill with fresh produce, dairy products, homemade sweets and bread, home-canned jams, pickles, and other products, and handmade items. Bon appetit!

City Library’s Wednesday Babies and Books. February 26 at 9 am in town. Lots of parents begin reading to their children when they’re babies. The little ones seem to love hearing parents’ voices talking in rhyme or with various accents. How much would the babies love it in a library setting? Take your little ones for some fun storytime.

March

Celtic Concert With Chris Waltz. March 7 at 11 am at the city library. What better way to prepare for the Wearin’ o’ the Green than by listening to authentic Irish music? While you’re thinking which green hat to wear on St. Paddy’s Day, listen to a superb musician playing guitar, fiddle, Irish flute, and tin whistle along with original Irish ditties. Erin go bragh (Ireland Til the End of Time!)

International Fly Fishing Festival. March 10 from 7 pm to 9 pm at the Lark Theater. Conservation endeavors, short and full-length films about every aspect of fly fishing by film makes from all over the world. CalTrout works hard to see the state’s rivers and streams are clean and healthy. Come check it out.

Night of Blues 2020. March 27 from 6 pm to 9 pm at Mt. Tam Racquet Club. Redwood HS’s Jazz and Performance Workshop Stars are at it again, amazing everyone with their tuneful soul music. Come have a bite to eat (and the dessert buffet) and vote for your favorite singer.

April

Drop-In Grief Support. April 7 from 12:30 to 1:30 pm at Hospice By the Bay in town. Many people suffer when they’ve lost a loved one. They don’t always know where to find a support group so they don’t feel both grieved and alone. Just show up – there’s no commitment.

BAM Gala. April 18 from 5:30 pm to 10 pm at Schurig Center in San Rafael. Come and help us guarantee everyone has access to life-saving services following brain injuries, stroke, or concussion whether or not they can pay. Participate in the silent, live, or art gallery auctions, have a bite at the buffet and wine tasting as you listen to live music.

Cinco de Mayo Pub Crawl San Francisco. May 2 from 1 pm to 8 pm at Comet Club on Fillmore Street and onward. The first four or five days of May have been celebrated from time immemorial by every group of people everywhere on Earth. It’s a time of celebrating the warmth, the rebirth of the trees and flowers, the beginning of the growing time, and the return of longer days and warm nights. It’s also a time for celebrating the Mexican Army’s victory over and their independence from the French in 1892. Come lift a glass in celebration with your fellows. Tickets $15.

Toddler Day. May 2 from 9:30 am to noon at Slide Ranch in Muir Beach. Additional Toddler Day is scheduled for May 23. Little ones love animals. Any animals. Little ones 18 months and younger are free to attend, other tickets $120.

June
